How to find a bitcoin wallet?
- Through the Bitcoin client. The official Bitcoin client is a program that can be installed on any computer that works with the Windows, Mac or Linux operating system. You just have to download it
from bitcoin.org and install it. It will automatically create a wallet and start downloading the transaction history (blockchain). In the current version of the client, this last step may take more than an hour. You need to be online only if you want to send bitcoins from your own wallet; not to receive bitcoins. - Online services (e.g. Coinbase). There are sites that offer online wallet services. They do not require the installation of any program; you just have to register a username and password for each account you want to open. It must be borne in mind that the private keys that control the bitcoins credited in these accounts are not stored in our computer (or pendrive, or CD, or card), so that security is not completely in our hands. If many bitcoins are stored in these types of accounts, it is advisable to use an extensive password (at least 12 characters), exclusive and difficult to decipher, and make sure not to lose or forget it.
