The audience was supposed to take decisions for the young programmer Stefan Butler, who happens to the lead in the movie. This interactive path was based on the video game which was an adaptation from an adventure novel which was released in the 1980s. There were a few other characters in the movie that are all part of the video game company in which the lead role works. The film is based on a video game where there is an illusionary creature involved to build up the horror.

These five different outcomes were finalized by Netflix. However, according to the producer of the movie, there are around ten to twelve different endings.
The endings will depend on how the decisions are made throughout the movie. Hence the probability increases with each decision taken. There was no ending, which was given any rating or ranked higher than the other. Some viewers believed that some of the endings were not ending on normal stances. However, there are options given to the viewer where there is a possibility to go back and change the previous decision taken. This might have a huge impact on the final ending. This option was added so as to make sure the audience does not go disappointed with the delivered ending.
